needs due to developmental disabilities, behavioral health issues,
and substance abuse. Horizon House is Pennsylvania’s oldest
psychiatric rehabilitation agency. Since 1952, we have been
dedicated to helping people with mental illness, drug and alcohol
addictions, developmental/intellectual disabilities, and
homelessness to stabilize their lives and to help them live as
independently as possible in the community. With over 100 locations
throughout South and North Eastern Pennsylvania and the state of
Delaware, Horizon House provides services to a diverse population
focusing on individual strength and choice. Currently, we are
seeking a full-time Maintenance Mechanic to work in our Real Estate
Division who has experience in the field and will be able to assist
us with keeping our properties in good condition. Some duties
include: To provide routine ongoing, preventive, and major
maintenance for properties operated by Horizon House. To provide a
safe and secure environment through ongoing renovations,
improvements, and maintenance of all interior and exterior areas.
To maintain a clean and pleasant environment through routine
cleaning and painting as needed. A successful applicant will have
the following: High School diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum
of 5 years related experience as a general maintenance mechanic in
commercial buildings and/or home maintenance and repair with an
emphasis on plumbing, HVAC, and electrical skills including
troubleshooting, repair, and installation; or any combination of
experience, education, or training that would provide the level of
knowledge, skill, and ability required. Ability to work
independently. Ability to read and interpret work order requests.
Good communication skills, both oral and written. Must own or have
access to an extensive tool crib daily. Possess a valid driver's
license with an acceptable driving record and own or have access to
a van, truck, or utility vehicle daily. Knowledgeable of building
codes and regulations. Familiar with interpreting sketches, shop
drawings, blueprints, and manufacturer's specifications. Requires
lifting, carrying, climbing, loading, bending, testing, kneeling,
and tightening associated with routine facility maintenance and use
of corresponding tools regularly, for long periods. Ability to lift
equipment, fixtures, and/or materials up to 80 lbs. Routinely
exposed to inclement weather conditions. May be exposed to harsh
chemicals or odors. Must be available for scheduled emergency
on-call service and will be required to carry a cell phone during
regularly scheduled working hours and scheduled emergency on-call
service. Tolerance of multi-story heights. Possess a valid Driver's
License and a clean driving record. Must own or have daily access
to a van, truck, or utility vehicle. Scope: Requires bending,
carrying, climbing, lifting, loading, testing, and tightening
associated with routine building maintenance, construction the use
of corresponding tools. Lifting and/or carrying, not to exceed 80
lbs. Must be able to work in all weather conditions and tolerate
multi-story heights. Required to carry an Agency cell phone and/or
pager and be available to respond to emergencies. May be expressed
to harsh chemicals and/or odors. Horizon House offers competitive
